Read the instructions on how to do each of those below.

How to do the different types of task

๐Ÿ“š Speak at a School [Hoodie reward]

The best way to find out about GPN is to hear from someone who knows about GPN!

To do a school talk:

  1. Contact Renee to tell her which school you plan to speak at (via DM of your choice or at renee@techinclusion.org.au)

  2. Renee will give you a deck of slides to present from and a set of FAQs to prepare with

  3. Arrange with the school when you will be speaking to the students, you can do this by emailing the school or calling the front office.

  4. Give the talk to the students! Make sure to take a selfie inside the school ๐Ÿ“ท
Tell them about how great GPN is, about the fun projects and cool mentors, and donโ€™t forget to mention the pizza and snacks.

    • Feel free to print some of THESE FLYERS (either at home or at Officeworks* - get a receipt!) to hand out to students or put up at the school (see below)

  5. Submit the form (uploading your photo) to claim your hoodie!

*If you printed out flyers at Officeworks make sure to get a receipt and claim a reimbursement for your printing expense following this procedure.

If you have the opportunity to present GPN to another audience that has at least 50 girls in it we will consider it for a hoodie reward too!

๐Ÿ“ƒ Putting up flyers [Sock reward]

We want to get flyers about GPN in front of GPN eligible students at their schools!

To do this you will need to:

  1. Identify 2 schools you can go to that have students who are girls in years 7-12

  2. Print 10 of THESE FLYERS (either at home or at Officeworks* - get a receipt!)

  3. Get permission from the school to put up the flyers and either:

    1. Put up the flyers outside the school
      OR

    2. get the school to put them up for you

  4. Take a selfie at each school with the flyers.
Take a photo with either the put up flyers or with the receptionist/staff member you hand them off to.

  5. Submit the form with your photos in the form to claim your sock prize!

*If you printed out flyers at Officeworks make sure to get a receipt and claim a reimbursement for your printing expense following this procedure.

โ€ผ๏ธ Bill Posting is illegal in New South Wales, so it is important you get permission from the school or you could face fines of $440.
GPN does not advocate for illegal posting of flyers and
will not cover the cost of fines.

๐Ÿ“ข Teenage Community Promotion [Sock reward]

Other programs where girls and gender-diverse teens go are great places to promote GPN, especially if those students already like STEM!

The group you promote to should have at least 10 GPN eligible students that you interact with (you can achieve this over multiple smaller engagements if needed).

You could do this by:

  • Signing up to judge (online) Young ICT Explorers (for a high school age category) and introducing yourself as being a GPN volunteer (and saying that we provide free programming workshops for girls and gender-diverse teens)

  • Offer to speak to a Code Club at a local high school about GPN or handing out 10 flyers

  • Speaking to a community group like Girl Guides about GPN or handing out 10 flyers.

How to do this task?

  1. Make arrangements to present/judge/attend/participate in the community event

  2. Prep your materials, that might be printing the flyers, writing a couple sentences to say about GPN, or getting the school presentation deck/FAQs from Renee.

  3. Do the thing (presentation or flyer handing out)

  4. Take a selfie when you are at the event

  5. Submit the form with your photo

*If you printed out flyers at Officeworks make sure to get a receipt and claim a reimbursement for your printing expense following this procedure.

๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ Other Ideas? [Hoodie or Sock reward]

If you have another idea that you think will drive as much impact as any of the ones listed above let Renee know via DM or at renee@techinclusion.org.au! Sheโ€™ll let you know if it will be eligible for a reward.

Steps to do your own task?

  1. Get your idea approved by Renee

  2. Go do the idea!

  3. Take a photo while you do it!

  4. Submit the form with your photo and a description of your activity (including an estimate of how many people were there that could got to GPN)

  5. *If you printed out flyers at Officeworks make sure to get a receipt and claim a reimbursement for your printing expense following this procedure.
